Ending mine clearance in the Handarat area, north of Aleppo

On March 15th, the Armenian humanitarian mission completed the removal of mines and remnants of terrorism in the village of Handarat and its lands north of Aleppo.

The Head of the Armenian Humanitarian Mission, Argadi Donoyan, stated: “today, demining experts finished clearing about 1,400,000 square meters of land that contained mines and remnants of terrorism, and 80 pieces of mines and unexploded ordnance were removed.”

Donoyan added: “The Armenian humanitarian mission, which has been working in Syria since 2019, also provides medical and humanitarian aid through a specialized team of doctors, as more than 27 tons of medical aid were provided in the past years.”

In a similar statement, the Head of the Russian Coordination Center in Aleppo, Colonel Sergei Yesonin, spoke about the contributions made by the Russian Coordination Center to the Armenian humanitarian mission and supervising its work.

Yesonin expressed his hope for continued cooperation between Russia, Syria and Armenia to clear all areas of mines so that the people can return to them safely.

A member of the executive office concerned with Aleppo Governorate Council, Dr. Abdul Qadir Dawalibi, expressed his thanks and gratitude to the two governments and peoples in Armenia and Russia, for standing by the Syrian people.

Archbishop Makar Ashkarian, Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of Aleppo for Orthodox Armenians said that the Armenia government and people provided a lot of assistance to Syria in its ordeal.

Archbishop Ashkarian thanked all members of the Armenian humanitarian mission for the efforts they made during their work in clearing mines in Aleppo.
