MOSCOW- Defense Minister, Gen. Ali Mahmoud Abbas, and his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoigu on Wednesday held talks on military cooperation.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that talks between the two ministers dealt with the situation in the Syria Arab Republic and with the military and the technical military cooperation.
The two sides, according to the statement, affirmed the importance of continuous cooperation that preserves Syria’s security and stability.
Shoigu expressed his condolences to the Syrian people and to all the citizens who were affected by the earthquake that hit Syria last February, stressing that his country will continue to support Syria.
He referred to the cooperation between the two countries in combating terrorism in Syria, pointing out that the bulk of this counter-terrorism process has been accomplished, adding, “there is still a lot of work to do”.
For his part, General Abbas expressed his hope that ooperation between the two sides will continue, highly appreciating the efforts exerted by the Russian army in Syria.
