The head of the Armenian Parliamentary Bloc and the Secretary-General of the Tashnak Party, the Lebanese MP Hagop Pakradounian, said in a statement to reporters that the official and civil parties in Lebanon were prepared to help the people affected by the earthquake in Syria, and work was done to collect a quantity of various relief materials, food and medicine, infant milk, woolen clothes and family needs. All aid was handed over to the Armenian Orthodox Archdiocese in Aleppo to deliver it to the people and the needy.
Pakradounian called for lifting the unjust siege imposed on the Syrian people in the light of the painful humanitarian crisis, stressing the Lebanese people’s support for their brothers in Syria in their ordeal.
In his turn, Bishop Makar Ashkarian, Metropolitan of the Diocese of Aleppo and its dependencies, thanked the Armenian Orthodox Church of the Lebanese people, the Armenian community and the Tashnak party, who responded to the distress call, by collecting donations to help the people affected by the earthquake in Aleppo.
