Shoukry meets Pedersen, strsses need to continue providing support for Syria in the face of earthquake repercussions

On March 13th, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry called on all parties to provide assistance to Syria to face the consequences of the devastating earthquake that hit the country on February 6th.

A spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abu Zeid, said in a statement: “Shoukri briefed the United Nations Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, during their meeting in Cairo, about the support provided by Egypt to Syria, to face the consequences of the earthquake, and about his visit to Damascus to stand by Syria in that crisis.”

Shoukry stressed the need for continued support by all parties to help Syria withstand these consequences.

Shoukry stressed the importance of reviving the political process within the framework of Egypt’s keenness to settle the crisis as soon as possible, to preserve the integrity and unity of the Syrian territories, to end all forms of terrorism and foreign interference in its affairs, and to put an end to the suffering of the Syrian people.
