Dr. Shaaban to Naumkin: The world is heading towards a new multipolar system

Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, on Thursday met with Vitaly Naumkin, Head of the Oriental Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation, and the accompanying delegation.
Dr. Shaaban emphasized the depth of the Syrian-Russian relations and the great trust between the two leaderships and peoples, noting that the world today is passing through an important and pivotal stage of transformation, because it is not possible for the situation at the international level to continue as it is because the West has not succeeded in leading the world, and that this world is heading towards a new multipolar system.
During the meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Wathiqat Watan (Homeland  Document) Foundation in Damascus, Shaaban stressed the need to intensify work between the two countries at the intellectual and media level, because the Western media promotes terminology that suits its policy, and we in the East must have our own terminology that expresses our thought and sovereignty, so we must be proactive in launching our terms and concepts, and work diligently on them, and not be satisfied with just reactions. She noted the importance of an agenda that includes effective work mechanisms through specialized and effective teams at the intellectual and media level, because the war today is not only military, but rather a media and cultural war.
Dr. Shaaban drew attention to the importance of the national identity that the West seeks to destroy among all the peoples of the world, noting that the West and the United States of America have no right to talk about humanity and human rights, while they stand by and watch the Palestinians being killed by the Zionist occupation.
In his turn, Naumkin stressed the importance of Syria to Russia, referring to Russia’s permanent demand in all international forums to lift the unilateral and illegal coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people, pointing to the mutual trust between the two countries, and at the same time praising Dr. Shaaban’s participation in the Valdai Conference that was held in Moscow last week.
Naumkin pointed to the necessity of exchanging academic experiences between the two countries through institutions, which enhances cooperation and close relationships so that academic and institutional relations match the political relations between the two countries.
The Russian delegation also stressed the need to find possible ways and formulas for cooperation in the economic and investment field through full understanding of the investment laws applied in Syria.
The head of the Oriental Institute confirmed that Syria and Russia are in one row and in one trench, and that his country is always keen on Syria’s interest, pointing to the absolute trust that exists between President Bashar al-Assad and President Vladimir Putin.
In response to the inquiry of the guest Russian delegation about Syria’s relationship with the Arab world, Dr. Shaaban explained that Syria will restore glory to the Arabs and to Arabism, noting the Syrian people felt the sympathy of  all the Arab peoples during the recent earthquake disaster, which indicates that the spark of Arabism in the Arab world still exists and that Syria is the beating heart of Arabism, and President al-Assad works wisely for the harmony of the Arab pulse.
At the end of the meeting, Naumkin stressed the need for permanent communication between the two sides and for setting a joint roadmap for future work.
In her turn, Dr. Shaaban said “we, in Syria, feel that Russia is defending the fate of humanity, the future of humanity and the future of the world order, so it is the duty of every honorable person in the world to support Russia”.
