Western blockade is economic terrorism against peoples, says Syria’s Representative to UN Office in Geneva

Geneva, (ST) – Ambassador Haider Ali Ahmed, Syria’s Representative  to the United Nations Office in Geneva has affirmed that full commitment to respecting Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, lifting the unilateral coercive measures, sincere cooperation with the Syrian government in combating terrorism and supporting the Syrian government’s efforts in the humanitarian and development fields are essential factors to stop the suffering of the Syrian people.

In a statement today before the Human Rights Council, Ambassador Ahmed stressed the importance of supporting the Syrian government’s efforts in the humanitarian and development fields and in rebuilding what was destroyed by the earthquake and the armed terrorist groups. He also stressed the importance of refraining from any practices that impede these efforts.

He also stressed the need for sincere cooperation with the Syrian government in combating the remnants of terrorism and ending the illegal presence of American forces on Syrian soil.

Ambassador Ahmed affirmed the need to stop the Israeli entity’s barbaric and inhumane attacks on Syria, and its blatant violations of the international law and the international humanitarian law, the latest of which was the attack on Aleppo Airport yesterday morning.

Ambassador Ahmad reaffirmed Syria’s support for the one-China principle. He pointed out that developments in Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Tibet are Chinese internal affairs, and any attempts of foreign interference are rejected.
