Social Affairs Ministry, ILO discuss cooperation in supporting people affected by the earthquake in Syria
Damascus (ST): Assistant Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Muhammad Firas Al-Nabhan and a team from the International Labor Organization, headed by economist Aya Jaafar, on Wednesday discussed means of supporting sustainable projects and enhancing cooperation in assisting those affected by the earthquake.
During the meeting, a number of topics related to the humanitarian file were discussed, including the response to the earthquake disaster and the work to create job opportunities for those affected by the earthquake who lost their sources of income as a result of the disaster.
The Organization’s work team was also briefed on the mechanism of work of the Central Bureau of Statistics in implementing surveys related to the labor market.
Al-Nabhan indicated during the meeting that it is important to benefit from the experience of the Labor Organization in the field of disaster management, especially with the current stage of organized work to manage the crisis in a way that saves time and effort, referring to the importance of cooperation with the Organization as a basic partner to help conduct an assessment in the affected areas to know the numbers of affected people who lost their jobs and provide them with support in the field of economic empowerment, contribute to reconstruction and support the labor market information system platform.
