Parliament issues statement on 60th anniversary of March 8 revolution

DAMASCUS, Mar.7, (ST)- The People’s Assembly [Parliament] has asserted that the glorious Revolution of the 8th of March , demonstrated the strength of the Syrian people in expressing their hopes and aspirations in building a state capable of formulating social, economic and cultural laws that reflect its civilized, historical and human heritage.

In a statement released on Tuesday on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the March 8 Revolution, the parliament said that that the corrective movement led by the late President Hafez Al-Assad, came to activate all political forces and parties in the country and establish the law of institutions, as well as consolidate of constitutional, legislative, popular and trade union rules.

The parliament indicated that the development and modernization approach launched by President Bashar Al-Assad came as a completion of the course of institutional work and the strengthening of factors of self-capacity and internal strength, and the relentless pursuit to raise the rates of growth and comprehensive development at all levels, in one of the most dangerous stages that passed in the contemporary history of Syria.
