LATTAKIA- Lattakia Governor Amer Hilal and the Indian Charge d’ Affairs in Damascus Satender Kumar Yadav discussed during a meeting on Saturday enhancing cooperation in the fields of health, civil defense and rescue operations.
Hilal briefed Yadav on the damage caused by the earthquake that hit Syria and the obstacles that faced the rescue and medical teams during the first days of the disaster, due to the sharp shortage in specialized equipment and machines and the unavailability of enough ambulances, medicines and necessary medical equipment because of the coercive measures imposed by the West on Syria.
He also talked about the difficulties that impede the education process after several schools have been damaged due to the earthquake and several others have been used as shelter centers.
Following the meeting, the Indian diplomat said that his visit to Lattakia aimed at assessing the needs of the governorate after the earthquake, pointing out that he and the governor agreed on providing the Indian Embassy with information about the damage caused by this disaster in different sectors, so that the Indian government can send necessary aid to help the Syrian government respond to the repercussions of this catastrophe.
Yadva clarified that India has sent two planes carrying relief aid and medical supplies to Syria and it plans to send more shipments, pointing out that the strong friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries necessitate that India should stand by Syria and support it in the confrontation of different challenges.
