The Central Leadership of the National Progressive Front holds an extraordinary meeting to review the effects of the devastating earthquake and its repercussions

Damascus (ST): The Central Leadership of the National Progressive Front held an extraordinary meeting chaired by Major General Muhammad al-Shaar, Vice President of the Front.

Major General Al-Shaar indicated that the meeting comes to discuss to the effects of the devastating earthquake and its repercussions on the stricken governorates, referring to the initiatives that the country witnessed after President Bashar Al-Assad called the government to meet immediately after the earthquake occurred and directed it to play its role, form relief committees, visit the stricken governorates, and see directly the effects of the earthquake  and its consequences on the Syrian people.

Major General Al-Shaar drew attention to the touching speech that President Al-Assad addressed to the Syrian people, thanking them for the individual and collective initiatives and brotherly and friendly countries for standing by the Syrians in their ordeal and calling for lifting the unjust siege imposed by the West on Syria.

For his part, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Eng. Hilal Al-Hilal, spoke about what the central leadership of the party did and the coordination with the various activities and through the branches of the National Progressive Front in the governorates by conducting aid convoys on behalf of the people of these governorates to Aleppo, Latakia and Hama, and the involvement of the Baath cadres and the parties of the Front in organized work.

Al-Hilal explained that the leadership took a decision to stop all activities and direct work regarding the disaster and its repercussions.

For his part, the Speaker of the People’s Assembly, member of the central leadership of the Front, Hamouda Sabbagh, explained the role that the Assembly, its institution and its members, had had since the first hours of the earthquake, each in his governorate to provide aid to the afflicted.
