Syrian-Russian Friendship Committee in the People’s Assembly meets the Russian ambassador in Damascus 

On March 1st, the Chairman and members of the Syrian-Russian Friendship Committee in the People’s Assembly met with the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for developing relations with Syria, the Russian Ambassador in Damascus Alexander Yefimov.

The two sides discussed ways to strengthen relations between the two friendly countries, Syria and the Russian Federation, especially the parliamentary ones.

The Chairman and members of the Committee emphasized the depth of the Syrian-Russian relations and thanked the Russian leadership for its supportive stance to Syria in the earthquake that struck the country.

For his part, Ambassador Yefimov offered condolences to the Syrian leadership and people over the earthquake victims and said that his country was fast in providing emergency humanitarian aid to those affected by the earthquake, and in contributing to removing the rubble of buildings and sending a rescue team to search for survivors.

He stressed that the Russian Federation will not hesitate to continue efforts in the post-relief phase, to rebuild what was destroyed by the war and the earthquake.

He expressed his country’s continuation in supporting Syria through increasing oil supplies, repairing electrical stations and building new housing.
