More than 250 aid planes have so far arrived in Syria

The total number of flights that have arrived at the international airports of Damascus, Aleppo and Lattakia, carrying aid for those affected by the earthquake, has reached 256 so far, according to Director General of Civil Aviation in Syria Basem Mansour.
Mansour indicated that new permissions were granted to Emirati aircraft from the first to the seventh of next March, explaining that the number of aid planes that have arrived from the UAE has reached 127 aircrafts to date, out of the total number of flights.
Mansour explained that the total aid varied between relief, food, first aid and medical supplies, hospital equipment and ambulances, noting that the total amount of aid that arrived via these planes amounted to 7,200 tons.
In turn, the director of Damascus International Airport Bashar Ghafra stated that all planes that transported aid and relief shipments to the airport were exempted from all fees, in addition to securing 6 halls of honor to receive official delegations.
The air navigation at Damascus International Airport indicated that since the first day of the earthquake, a work team was formed to be present in the air traffic, and the number of air observers in the center and control towers was intensified, and the work was around the clock to cover and absorb the intensity of the movement coming towards the airport, pointing out that the main objective of the work was to ensure the safety of air travel and the safety of air traffic between aircrafts.
The Airport Officers Division pointed to the formation of an operations room in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, to ensure the safety of air traffic, the arrival of aid planes, and to secure the work of media professionals with all requirements. The navigation movement was fully prepared, as all airport activities were available 24 hours a day, and the work was integrated between all sides, one of ghe airport officers said.
