Tartous, (ST) -A Russian relief aid ship, provided by the Russian Pure Heart Organization, arrived today at the port of Tartous. The ship is loaded with foodstuffs and other materials to be distributed to those affected by the earthquake.

The commercial representative of the Russian Federation in Syria, Dr. George Asadorian, said in a statement to reporters that since the seventh of February, 850 tons of humanitarian aid have been delivered by the Russian Federation to Syria through the Russian Ministry of Defense, which sent 450 tons. He added “today we are receiving another batch of this aid that includes 6 containers with 52 tons of food, clothing, household items and children’s necessities, that will be delivered later to the Syrian Trust for Development for distribution to the affected people”.

Isadorian stressed that this aid expresses the solidarity of the Russian people with the Syrians after the catastrophe that befell them as a result of the earthquake, and stresses the Russian people’s desire to provide assistance to their Syrian people.

Deputy Head of the Executive Office, Judge Hassan Naous, stated that the aid received from NGOs and the local community in the friendly Russian Federation will be distributed to people in the earthquake-affected areas.
