Russia sends a multi-specialty mobile hospital to Syria

On February 27th, the Russian Ministry of Health announced sending a multi-specialty mobile hospital to provide assistance to those affected by the earthquake in Syria.

“According to the directives of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a multi-specialty mobile hospital, affiliated to the Federal Center for Disaster Medicine of the Russian Ministry of Health, was sent to Syria,” Sputnik quoted the ministry as saying in a statement.

The statement added: “In the coming days, a multidisciplinary team of doctors will be sent to Syria, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, infectious disease specialists, ultrasound diagnostic doctors, and a healthcare staff”.

 In turn, Russian Assistant Minister of Health Alexei Kuznetsov told reporters: “We are always working to expand cooperation with colleagues from Syria, and are ready to provide them with the necessary assistance and support.”

 He added that in the near future, about 40 doctors, commissioned by Minister Mikhail Murashko, will go to Syria to provide medical assistance to those affected by the earthquake.

In addition to the mobile hospital, diffetent forms of humanitarian aid were sent to Syria, including 15 tons of medicines, medical equipment and basic supplies.
