President Al-Assad receives Egypt’s Foreign Minister

Damascus, (ST) – President Bashar Al-Assad on Monday received Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and the accompanying delegation

During the meeting, Shoukry conveyed to President Al-Assad a message from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt,  affirming Egypt’s solidarity with Syria and its readiness to continue supporting the Syrians in confronting the impacts of the earthquake.

Shoukry conveyed to President Al-Assad  President Sisi’ greetings and feeling of pride in the historical relations between Syria and Egypt, as well as Cairo’s keenness to strengthen these relations and develop joint cooperation between the two countries

In turn, President Al-Assad thanked the Arab Republic of Egypt for the assistance it provided to support the efforts of the Syrian government in providing relief to those affected by the earthquake. He stressed that Syria is also keen on maitaining strong relations with Egypt.

President Al-Assad indicated that the Syrian-Egyptian relations must always be viewed from a general perspective and within the framework of the natural context of the history of these relations.

President Al-Assad considered that working to improve bilateral relations between Arab countries is the basis for improving the Arab situation in general.

He clarified that Egypt did not treat the Syrians who settled in it during the war on Syria as refugees; rather, the Egyptian people hosted them in all regions, which confirms the ties that unite the two peoples, and proves the originality of the Egyptian people.

Minister Shoukry considered that the Syrian-Egyptian relations are an essential pillar in protecting Arab countries. He stressed that Egypt will always support everything that can help Syria and will do everything possible that would serve the interests of the brotherly Syrian people.

Shoukry referred to the strong bonds between the Syrian and Egyptian peoples. He pointed out that the Syrians residing in Egypt showed a great ability to adapt to the Egyptian society and achieve great success in their work in various fields.
