On February 26th, an aid plane provided by the European Union countries arrived at Damascus International Airport, carrying relief and medical materials for those affected by the earthquake.
The Director of the European Union’s Humanitarian Operations Office in Syria, Luigi Pandolfi, said: “I offer my sincere condolences to the victims of the earthquake that struck Syria, and today we came in a mission organized by the European Union and the International Red Cross to provide assistance to people in need as soon as possible.”
Pandolfi added: “Since the first day of the earthquake, the Union has increased its support for Syria through the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, to ensure that aid reaches all parts of Syria as quickly as possible”
For his part, the Head of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Eng. Khaled Hboubati, said that the plane carries 120 tons of relief and medical materials provided by the European Union countries, and it is the third from European countries and other planes will follow.
He expressed Syria’s thanks to the European Union countries and people for sending this aid.
