Palestine honors its relief team for its role in supporting those affected by the earthquake in Syria

On February 25th, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs honored the relief team that participated in search and rescue operations, providing medical treatment , psychological support, and relief aid to those affected by the earthquake in Syria.

“We honor today the State of Palestine team for intervention and urgent response in appreciation of its tremendous efforts during the period of its mission in Syria,”Wafa news agency quoted Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki as saying.

Al-Maliki explained that the team carried out search and rescue operations, medical operations, and psychological support programs, in addition to establishing field clinics, providing treatment to patients, distributing humanitarian and food aid to shelter centers, and organizing various activities related to those whose homes were destroyed and who lost their property among Syrian citizens as well as Palestinians in camps.

Al-Maliki expressed his thanks to the Syrian government for  its support and cooperation to facilitate the team’s work, and also thanked the Palestinian embassies in Damascus and Amman for providing the necessary support for the success of the team’s mission.

For his part, Interior Minister Ziyad Hab al-Rih said: The work of the team was integrated and we are proud of it for being the best representation of Palestine.

In turn, the General Supervisor of Official Media, Minister Ahmed Assaf, indicated that the success of the team in its mission confirms that the Palestinian people are able to provide assistance, and are willing to contribute in healing the wounds of brothers and friends despite the crimes, siege and killing they are exposed to by the Israeli occupation forces.

For his part, the President of the Palestine Red Crescent Society, Younes Al-Khatib, said that the team showed a bright image of Palestine in the most crises that passed through our world and worked with a high patriotic spirit.

The Palestinian relief team, which included specialized doctors and surgeons, experts from the Red Crescent and Civil Defense, and a crew from the Radio and Television Corporation, completed its humanitarian mission in Syria on February 16th.

The Palestinian relief team worked in the governorates of Lattakia and Aleppo over a period of 8 days alongside the Syrian and international teams in operations and rescue, providing medical treatment, psychological support and relief aid to those affected by the earthquake.
