Syrian Trust for Development: Providing study places for students in areas affected by earthquake

The Syrian Trust for Development is working in cooperation with a group of volunteers to present initiatives to provide class rooms and student learning circles, as part of the response to the repercussions of the earthquake disaster.

The Syrian Trust stated on its Facebook page that the earthquake caused great damage to a number of schools and educational institutions, which posed a threat to the continuity of the education process of hundreds of students in the governorates of Lattakia, Aleppo and Hama, as they were the most affected areas by the earthquake.

The Syrian Trust indicated that the disruption of study and students’ losing of their homes, books and personal papers have negatively affected their educational achievement. In addition, the conversion of many schools to temporary shelters involves long-term effects.

The Trust stressed that it is working with partners to mitigate this by providing basic requirements for study and providing psychological support for students in a way that gives them the possibility to continue their education.
