Zakharova: The West has destroyed the international security system based on equality

Moscow (ST): The official spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, confirmed that the West has destroyed the international security system based on equality.

Russia Today website quoted Zakharova as saying, in an interview with Radio Sputnik today, commenting on the Western reaction to Russia’s suspension of its participation in the START Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty: “The West has begun with full awareness, in cold blood, to destroy the current security system in the world just because it assumes equality  and balance of interests and reciprocity in a number of areas,” adding, “They feel as if they have been offended by their equality with other entities or with those with whom they have contractual relations, in particular with us.”

Zakharova indicated that the West “has gone too far in its concept of its exceptionalism, and therefore it had to destroy everything that could be equal to it in rights,” considering that Western countries are still seeking to declare themselves as the only center of power in the world.
