Syria participates in the international conference on organizing the work of digital platforms

Paris (ST): The  work of the international conference “The Internet for Building Confidence” organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) kicked off in the French capital Paris, under the title “Towards Formulating Guidelines for Regulating the Work of Digital Platforms in order for Information to Become a Public benefit,” in which Syria is participating virtually through digital platforms.

The conference, which takes place between the 21st and 23rd of this February, brings together a group of regulatory bodies, judicial authorities, the United Nations, the private sector, civil society, academia, government organizations, and the technical community from all over the world with the aim of organizing the work of digital platforms.

Prior to the start of the conference, UNESCO presented a draft of “Guidelines for Regulating the Work of Digital Platforms” for discussion by the participants. It aims to support freedom of expression and provide accurate and reliable information in the public domain.

Dr. Munzer Ali Ahmed, Director of the Electronic Media Directorate at the Ministry of Information, who participated in the conference, along with Tariq Al-Sayed, a journalist at the Syrian Arab News Agency “SANA”, explained in a statement that Syria had submitted a set of proposals regarding the draft put forward by (UNESCO).
