National Earthquake Center: Magnitude 6 Earthquake in Alexandretta

 Damascus (ST) – An earthquake measuring 6 degrees on the Richter scale struck Liwa Iskenderun (Alexandretta) on Monday at 20:4 minutes, 52km west of Idlib, at a depth of 21,2km.

 Dr. Raed Ahmed, director manager of the National Earthquake Centre, affirmed that the tremor is one of the aftershocks of the earthquake that occurred on the sixth of this month. 

Dr. Ahmed suggested that these aftershocks would continue for a long time as a result of the great energy of the main earthquake, which led to the induction of all faults.
