A delegation of Syrian expatriates in Kuwait visits Lattakia to see the areas affected by the earthquake

Latakia , (ST) – A delegation of Syrian expatriates and community in Kuwait started a visit to Lattakia Governorate to see the areas affected by the earthquake that hit Syria on the sixth of this month.

The delegation met a number of families to find out their needs and discuss the possibility of providing them with assistance.

At the beginning of the visit, the members of the delegation met with the Governor of Lattakia, Engineer Amer Hilal. The discussion focused on the reality of the damage in the province, the human and material losses left by the earthquake, the conditions of the affected families who lost their homes. They also discussed ways of assistance to overcome this ordeal and improve the living conditions of hhd citizens.

Dr. Wael Nasser, the Head of the Syrian community delegation indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that everyone is well aware of this huge disaster and its repercussions, which would have caused real suffering if it had affected any of the major countries, even the richest countries, so how is the situation when we are talking about Syria, which has been and continues to suffer for more than 12 years of war and siege.

Nasser added that the visit is an expression of love and solidarity with our people in our motherland, helping the affected families, and providing material and in-kind assistance in cooperation with the Syrian Trust for Development team in the governorate.

Nasser said that as a first step, we are examining the possibility of helping families to rent homes for a specific period of time as an alternative to shelter centers, so that they can return to their daily lives. “We try to reduce the suffering and feeling of these families that they are a burden on their communities”, he added

Nasser stressed that there will be larger visits and delegations during the coming period.
