Jakarta, (ST)- Indonesian President Joko Widodo affirmed his country’s keenness to strengthen relations with Syria, expressing hope that it would recover from the effects of the devastating earthquake.
Widodo said: “We are keen and interested in cooperation to enhance the best relations with Syria, and we hope that the country will recover from the impacts of the devastating earthquake as soon as possible”.
He made the remarks on Monday after accepting the credentials of the new Syrian ambassador to Indonesia Abdel Moneim Annan at the presidential palace in the Jakarta.
For his part, Ambassador Annan affirmed Syria’s keenness to strengthen and develop bilateral relations with Indonesia in all fields, wishing the Indonesian people more progress and prosperity.
Annan expressed the gratitude of the political leadership in Syria to President Widodo for the assistance that Indonesia provided and will provide to the people affected by the destructive earthquake that struck Syria recently.
