“Be My Friend”an artistic and literary initiative in support of those affected by the earthquake

Latakia (ST) – An artistic and literary initiative under the title “Be My Friend” was launched in Latakia to help those affected by the earthquake in Syria by donating paintings by plastic artists and the literary productions of some writers, so that the proceeds go to the benefit of those affected.

More than 60 plastic artists and writers participated in this initiative, which was launched by the ‘Sada Beit Al-Qasid’ cultural center in Latakia last Thursday, and donated the profits of their works to the governorates affected by the earthquake.

Activist in plastic art and one of those in charge of the initiative, Abdullah Shaheen, stated that this initiative was motivated by the sense of responsibility and the great impact of the tragic situation left by the earthquake on the artists and writers. He added that the artists and writers have chosen to do their humanitarian duty by offering their artistic and literary achievements to help those affected.

For her part, Roma Nazih, from the party in charge of the initiative, indicated that the initiative aims to provide an opportunity to highlight the role of the artists and writers, like other groups of society, in standing up and supporting those affected by this disaster.

The plastic artist Nazir Tanzekli, said that the initiative is to raise morale and avoid any negative situation the disaster may leave behind.   

The participation of the poet and photographer Muhannad Hatem wasa represented by presenting a collection of his poetic works, in addition to five photographs that form a photographic path symbolizing what we have gone through during the last 12 and ended up with symbolizing hope.

The plastic artist Muhammad Asaad pointed out that the plastic artist cannot but stand strongly by such a humanitarian initiative, as he tries to transfer his feelings through the painting that is not only a decoration, but rather a push for the development and advancement of the society.
