Sabbagh: Deep-rooted Syrian-Lebanese relations are strong enough that nothing can affect them

Damascus (ST): The Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hamouda Sabbagh, met with a delegation from the Lebanese Parliament headed by Ali Hassan Khalil, head of the Lebanese-Syrian Parliamentary Brotherhood and Friendship Committee. The delegation visited Damascus to offer condolences to the People’s Assembly and the government and people of Syria, after the catastrophe of the earthquake that the country was exposed to.

During the meeting, Sabbagh stressed that the Syrian and Lebanese peoples are one people in two countries bound by the unity of blood and a common destiny, and together they were exposed to the same series of wars and attacks, stressing that the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples are immune to conspiracies.

Sabbagh thanked the Lebanese Parliament and the Lebanese people for their stance in support of Syria, their fraternal and humanitarian participation, and their offering of help and assistance with all available human and material capabilities to their Syrian brothers who were affected by the catastrophe of the devastating earthquake.

For his part, Khalil expressed Lebanon’s full solidarity with Syria and its people in the face of the catastrophe.
