Al-Jaafari: In providing aid, the West advances interests over humanitarian ethics

Volunteers of different nationalities have participated in preparing, sorting packing and arranging relief aid and donations, provided by various parties to the Syrian Embassy in Moscow, to be shipped to earthquake-affected areas in Syria, under the supervision of Syria’s Ambassador in Moscow Bashar al-Ja’afari.

The volunteers wanted to express their solidarity with the Syrian people in the aftermath of the earthquake, according the volunteer team leader, who clarified that most of the volunteers are students from Syria, Russia, Iran, China, Ivor Coast, Lebanon, Palestine and other countries.

The Syrian Embassy in Moscow thanked the volunteers for their sincere initiative.

In addition, a delegation representing the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences visited the Syrian embassy and presented assistance to Syrian children as part of their solidarity stance.

In an interview with the Iranian TV, Al-Ja’afari hailed the solidarity of the Russian government and people with Syria since the first day of the earthquake.

“In providing aid, the West advances interests over humanitarian ethics,” Al-Ja’afari said, clarifying that Western countries use humanitarian slogans to achieve their own goals.

He said that Syria has faced terrorism and economic sanctions over the past 12 years. “That foreign-backed earthquake [terrorism and sanctions] was harsher than the current earthquake on the Syrian people,” Al-Jaafari stressed, pointing out that “Syria is being exposed to immoral discrimination by the West, even in humanitarian issues”.
