Damascus, (ST) – President Bashar Al-Assad on Wednesday received Ayman Al-Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan.
Al-Safadi conveyed to President Al-Assad the greetings and condolences of the King Abdullah II. He stressed that the Kingdom of Jordan, as leadership and people, voices solidarity with the Syrian people for what they have suffered as a result of the earthquake, and it will continue, under the directives of King Abdullah to provide everything possible to help Syria and the Syrian people overcome this ordeal.
Al-Safadi added that Jordan supports the relief efforts exerted by the Syrian government to assist those affected.
Al-Safadi considered that the countries of the world should deal with this ordeal in accordance with humanitarian principles, so that the required aid and relief materials are delivered to all the affected areas without discrimination and without politicizing the humanitarian conditions experienced by the Syrians.
President Al-Assad expressed Syria’s appreciation for the official and popular position of brotherly Jordan. He indicated that the Syrian people welcome and interact with any positive stance towards them, especially from the Arab brothers.
President Al-Assad stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation between Syria and Jordan because the geographical and popular factors make the peoples of the two countries experience similar challenges and circumstances at several levels.
