Tartous, (ST) – Tartous governorate announced that all the injuries resulted from the earthquake in the governorate are minor and their number does not exceed 35. The majority of these injuries were the result of panic and fear, and the injured were treated directly.
The governor of Tartous, Abdul Halim Khalil, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the number of buildings completely damaged by the earthquake in the governorate amounted to 18 houses in the city of Al-Qadmus, which are mainly old houses. Most of these houses, which are located in the vicinity of Al-Qadmus Castle, were evacuated and the residents have other houses in the city, so they stated that there is no need for specializing a temporary shelter center for them in this area.
The governor pointed out that there are partially damaged buildings in Al-Qadmous and the rest of the governorate’s areas, where the specialized committees inspect these houses, describe the reality and determine the risk factor. He indicated that the damage mostly took the shape of simple cracks, and in the event that they are more crack , the high-risk houses are evacuated.
Khalil indicated that since the first days of the disaster, three shelter centers were equipped and opened in the Hashem Youssef School and the Revolutionary Youth Union branch in Tartous and in the Drakeesh Tourist Hotel in the city of Drakeesh. There are also the identification of six shelter centers at the district level, at a rate of one center in each region, and they are ready to occupy when needed. .
The governor pointed out that aid receipts for those affected by the earthquake are organized through the spatial relief committees in the administrative units formed for this purpose in cooperation with the district director or the sub-district director and under the supervision and follow-up of the relief sub-committee in the governorate.
