International, Arab humanitarian aid planes arrive in Syria

Damascus (ST)- Different forms of international and Arab humanitarian aid continue to be sent from several countries of the world to Syria to help alleviate the suffering of Syrians who were affected by the earthquake that hit the country on February 6th and led to massive human casualties and destruction.

According to Director of the Civil Aviation Basem Mansour, the total number of aid planes that have arrived at Syria’s airports until Wednesday mornning reached 112.

The planes were distributed as follows: The UAE sent 35 planes, Iraq 11, Libya 10 and each of Algeria and Iran sent 7, Oman 5, Kazakhatan 4 and 3 each of Egypt, Belarus, China, Russia, Jordan, Tunisia and Armenia.
Two planes were sent by each of Saudi Arabia and the world Health Organization, and each of Banghlqdesh, Chechnya, Sudan and Venezuella sent one planes.

Some of the planes brought field hospitals  and medical equipment and medcines, in addition to foodstuffs.

On Wednesday, a number of aid planes arrived in Syria carrying hundreds of tons of humanitarian aid to the affected people.

The planes came from China, Saudi Arabua,the UAE, Libya, Tunisia, Belarus, Jordan and Japan.

In a statement to SANA news reporter, Lattakia airport director Ziyad Taweel said that the Libyan plane was carrying 40 tons of foodstuffs, including canned food and milk, in addition to medical equipment, including beds, mattresses and medical devices.

Brigadier General Andrei Gorinovich, the Head of the medical team for special tasks of the Belarusian army said: The two Belarusian planes carry a field hospital and medical supplies as well as forty doctors of various specializations.
