Al-Jaafari, head of the Armenian Community in Russia discuss the earthquake’s repercussion on Syria

Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, the Syrian Ambassador to Moscow, and Artur Khatchadorian, head of the Armenian Community in Kamchatka, Russia, and member of the Supreme Council of the Armenian Communities in the Russian Federation on Monday discussed the repercussions of the devastating earthquake that struck Syria and the developments of the rescue operations to help the affected people.
During the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Syrian Embassy in Moscow, Al-Jaafari explained the developments on the ground after the earthquake, and the ongoing operations to address the situation, explaining that we have moved from rescue operations to the stage of removing rubble and rebuilding what the earthquake has destroyed.
 Therefore, Al-Jaafari said, the priorities have changed from the need for food and clothes to the need for equipment, machinery, and technical requirements for reconstruction, as well as tents, medicines, baby food, electric power generators, and medical devices.
In his turn, Khatchadorian expressed the readiness of the Armenian community in Russia to help the Syrian government and people and meeting the basic needs of the stage so as to alleviate the effects of the devastating earthquake, whether through financial or equipment assistance.
In an interview with Russian RT News and TVS channels, Al-Jaafari criticized discrimination and bias practiced against Syria by some western regimes in disregard for the ordeal of the Syrian people.
SANA correspondent in Moscow, stated that a number of Russian citizens and volunteers managed to collect donations for the affected people in Syria and expressed their readiness to provide all necessary assistance and even volunteered to transfer them to Syria. They condemned the western sanctions imposed on the Syrian people, which impede relief operations.
