A Belarusian delegation briefed on the damage caused by the earthquake in Jableh and Latakia

Latakia (ST): The Belarusian delegation accompanying the relief aid plane, which arrived at Latakia International Airport, visited a number of earthquake-affected sites in the cities of Jableh and Latakia, to inspect the extent of the destruction and the cracked buildings, as well as the reality of the services and care provided in several shelters for the affected people.

After the end of the tour, the Governor of Lattakia, Eng. Amer Hilal, met the Belarusian delegation at the governorate building, and the discussion focused on damages, losses, and the requirements of the next stage.

First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations in Belarus Khodolev Alexander said in a statement to news reporter: We have seen the extent of the damage and great human losses caused by the earthquake, and we have met a number of affected families in the shelters, expressing his hope that the aid shipment that arrived, including foodstuffs, medicines, blankets, tents and clothes, would contribute to alleviate the suffering of citizens in these centers.

Alexander pointed out that the meeting with the governor of Latakia was fruitful and positive in terms of clarity of the picture regarding the needs of the Syrian people, and it will be transferred to the Belarusian leadership in order to work on organizing shipments of humanitarian aid that meet the requirements of the stage, and there are some suggestions to provide medical assistance to the Syrian side.
