President al-Assad to Ghebreyesus: Syria looks forward to effective cooperation with the World Health Organization based on a comprehensive vision
On February 12th, President Bashar al-Assad received the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and his accompanying delegation.
President Al-Assad stressed the importance of the organization’s delegation’s visit to Syria in these circumstances, in order to see the required medical and humanitarian needs to treat those affected by the earthquake.
President Al-Assad expressed appreciation for the efforts made by the organization in this context and what it provided in support of the health sector in Syria.
President Al-Assad considered that Syria is looking forward to effective cooperation with the World Health Organization, based on a comprehensive vision that assesses the reality of the health sector.
For his part, Ghebreyesus indicated that his visit and the accompanying delegation to the city of Aleppo yesterday was an opportunity to identify the necessary medical and humanitarian supplies to deal with the injured from the earthquake.
He underlined that the organization has sent a batch of emergency medical supplies, and will send another batch in the coming days.
The members of the delegation affirmed that the World Health Organization is ready to work with Syria to face the consequences of the war and the earthquake, and to contribute to providing assistance according to the required needs.
