Belarusian and Indian aid planes arrive at Syrian airports carrying medical supplies and food
On February 12th, a Belarusian aid plane arrived at Latakia International Airport, accompanied by the Belarusian Deputy Minister of Emergencies Khodolev Alexander, and the Belarusian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Damascus, Yuri Saliba.
The Belarusian Deputy Minister of Emergencies confirmed that this batch of aid is the seventh from his country to the victims of the earthquake in Syria, and there are more batches.
He said that this aid came under the directives of the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, to help the friendly Syrian people.
In turn, the director of the airport, Eng. Ziyad Al-Taweel, explained that the plane was carrying 35 tons of food and medical relief materials, medicines, tents and blankets.
Meanwhile, a second Indian plane loaded with relief aid for those affected by the earthquake arrived at Damascus International Airport today.
The Chargé d’Affaires of the Indian Embassy in Damascus, Satinder Kumar Yadav, said that the plane is the second, with a larger payload of about 30 tons of aid to support those affected by the earthquake.
Yadav explained that the aid carried by the plane includes about 24 tons of medicines, clothes and blankets, in addition to four electric generators.
He added that the Republic of India stands with the Syrian people in their great affliction after the earthquake that struck the country.
It is noteworthy that the first Indian plane arrived last Wednesday at Damascus International Airport, carrying humanitarian and medical aid for those affected by the earthquake.
On February 12th, the Iraqi government announced that it sent two planes loaded with relief materials to the city of Aleppo.
“A plane will take off shortly, in addition to another plane this evening to the city of Aleppo, carrying tons of various foodstuffs,” a spokesman for the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Haider Majeed, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA):
He added: “This initiative comes within the series of air bridges that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a al-Sudani directed to establish.”
