President Bashar al-Assad and Mrs. Asma al-Assad briefed on the conditions of the earthquake victims and the ongoing rescue operations in Aleppo

Aleppo (ST):  President Bashar al-Assad and Mrs. Asma al-Assad inspected today the conditions of those affected by the earthquake in Aleppo governorate and the ongoing rescue operations in several areas.

In their first stop in Aleppo, President al-Assad and Mrs. Asma went to Aleppo University Hospital to check on the condition of the injured and those affected by the earthquake and listened to them about their conditions and needs.

They also heard from the medical staff about the nature of the medical support that was provided to the injured and the challenges they faced in the unprecedented ordeal of the earthquake.

Addressing the doctors and cadres working in the hospital, President al-Assad said: “We are proud of the national cadres in all crises, and in the earthquake crisis we witnessed many heroic deeds and the doctors who work in the shadows are part of these heroics.”

President al-Assad was also briefed on the ongoing rescue operations and removal of rubble and destruction in the al-Masharqa neighborhood in Aleppo.

President al-Assad told the media at one of the sites of removing the rubble and recovering the injured in the city of Aleppo: “It is said that the West has given priority to politics over the humanitarian situation. Humanity does not exist in the West, for there to be politicization of the situation is the natural thing, as for human feeling, it does not exist, neither now nor in the past, neither during modern colonialism nor after it nor before it. For over 600 years,  colonialism has been based on killing, stealing and plundering peoples.
