Syrian community in Cuba, India to contribute to mitigating the repercussions of Syria earthquake

The Syrian embassy has called on the Syrian community in Cuba and a number of Latin American countries to donate in solidarity with those affected by the earthquake that struck Syria last Monday and resulted in hundreds of victims, so as to contribute to alleviating their suffering.

The embassy said in a statement: “Given the situation our country is going through as a result of the earthquake which resulted in thousands of victims and severe damage to the infrastructure, and as an embodiment national unity among the people of the one Syrian homeland and in solidarity with our affected people, the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Havana calls on all Syrian expatriates and activists residing in Cuba, the Bahamas, Dominica, Jamaica and Panama, to participate in the national effort and show solidarity with their families in Syria, and extend a helping hand to them to alleviate their suffering by donating at the embassy building in Havana.

The Syrian Ambassador to Cuba, Dr. Ghassan Obeid, had received, during the past two days, a number of messages and calls from several officials in Cuban institutions and accredited ambassadors in Havana, in which they expressed their support and solidarity with Syria in this calamity, and their condolences to the families of the victims.

Many Syrian embassies called on members of expatriate communities to donate to help those affected by the earthquake, which resulted in hundreds of victims.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Embassy in India called on the Syrian community to contribute to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the earthquake that hit Syria last Monday.

The embassy opened the door for donations to receive aid from the Syrian community, expatriates as well as from willing Indian citizens, as many Indian humanitarian organizations expressed their willingness to provide help.

Several Syrian embassies abroad called on members of expatriate communities and activities to donate to help those affected by the earthquake.
