Iraqi President Abdulatif Rashid called on regional and international parties to stop punitive decisions and policies that harmed civilians and exposed them to great hardships, and to work on long-term plans to confront the effects of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey.
In the statement, Rashid called on Arab governments and political forces to “freeze their differences and cooperate in providing aid and facilitating its access to those affected by the earthquake.”
Rashid stressed that the catastrophic damage caused by the earthquake requires long-term relief plans, pointing out that there are thousands of wounded people in need of treatment services, and the destroyed areas need a rapid reconstruction process to return to normal life.
