Oman opens humanitarian air bridge to transport relief and medical supplies to Syria

Muscat, (ST) – The Sultanate of Oman announced that it has opened a humanitarian air bridge to transport medical and relief materials to Syria to help in facing the repercussions of the earthquake that struck the country at dawn on Monday.

The Omani News Agency stated on Wednesday that in response to the orders of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, the Sultanate of Oman, based on its humanitarian duty, opened an air bridge to transport relief and medical materials to the areas affected by the earthquake that struck the Syrian Arab Republic and to provide aid and assistance to the Syrians.

Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said, Sultan of Oman confirmed in a telephone conversation with President Bashar Al-Assad yesterday morning that the Sultanate will stand with Syria in all that is necessary to overcome this ordeal. He said that Oman will send urgent aid to support the Syrian government’s efforts to overcome the impacts of this disaster and provide relief to those affected by it.
