Algeria dispatches civil protection team to Syria to participate in rescue operations in areas affected by the earthquake

Algeria, (ST) – Algeria on Tuesday announced sending a team from the Civil Protection to Syria to participate in the rescue operations for victims of the earthquake that hit the country at dawn yesterday, leaving hundreds of casualties.

The Algerian newspaper An-Nahar reported that, under the direction of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, a team of 86 civil protection personnel was formed to be sent to Syria to participate in rescue operations with techniques that are in accordance with international standards required by the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group.

President Tebboune had affirmed in a telegram addressed to President Bashar Al-Assad that the Algerian government and people stand by the Syrian people in these harsh circumstances. He stressed his country’s willingness to exert all efforts that would mitigate the severity and effects of this painful tragedy.

Algeria also announced sending urgent aid to Syria to provide relief to the affected people as a result of the devastating earthquake that led to hundreds of victims.

The Algerian newspaper Al-Shorouk reported that Interior Minister Ibrahim Mourad supervised this morning the departure of Algerian Air Force planes to Syria, loaded with about 115 tons of aid in the form of food and medical supplies, tents and blankets to help those affected by the earthquake.
