President Al-Assad receives condolences from leaders of brotherly and friendly countries

President Bashar Al-Assad on Monday received cables of condolences and solidarity from leaders of a number of Arab and foreign countries on the death of hundreds of people as a result of the massive earthquake that rocked the country early today.

The cables were sent by Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, King Abdullah II of Jordan, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid.

In their cables, the leaders voiced their solidarity with the Syrian people within these difficult circumstances, stressing their willingness to provide all forms of humanitarian assistance that would alleviate the suffering caused by this disaster.

The leaders wished speedy recovery to the injured and expressed their confidence that the Syrian leadership and people will manage to overcome the impacts of the disaster as soon as possible.
