Hundreds of human casualties as a result of the deadly earthquake 

25 Deaths and 200 Injuries in Jableh, Lattakia

Provinces- Mayor of Jableh Municipality, Eng. Ahmad Qandil, stated that the number of deaths resulting from the earthquake, that occurred at dawn today, reached 25 people in an initial toll. About 200 people were also injured. 

 He stressed that the earthquake led to the collapse of 15 buildings in several areas in Jableh including Al-Ghazala Street, Al-Rumaila Street, and Furn Sumer Street. 

Qandil indicated that the city council with all its teams, cadres, rescue teams in the civil defense, public and private sector mechanisms, and fire brigades are doing their best to provide necessary assistance to the affected areas. 

For his part, Dr. Qusai Khalil, Director of the National Hospital in Jableh, said: “the hospital, with its entire staff, is on high alert and providing all emergency and health services to the injured.” 

Search and rescue operations continue in Aleppo 

5 bodies pulled from the rubble in Al-Kalasa and Al-Mashareqa neighborhoods 

A source in Civil Defense told SANA reporter in Aleppo that 3-four storey buildings had collapsed in Al-Kallasa neighborhood near Zaid Bin Haritha University. 

The source said that civil defense teams pulled the first body from the rubble. It is expected that many missing persons are still under the rubble. 

According to SANA reporter in Aleppo, four bodies were pulled from a collapsed five-story building in Al Mashariqa neighborhood, and the rescue teams are continuing their works to search for other missing people. 

Hama

In Hama city and Al-Gab region, 17 people died and 23 others were injured, according to the director of the General Authority of the Hama National Hospital, Dr. Salim Khalouf.

Khalouf stated that the hospital continues to receive those injured as a result of the earthquake to receive treatment.

Tartous

In Tartous, 20 citizens were injured, one building was destroyed and parts of other houses in towns and villages in the countryside of the governorate were collapsed, because of the earthquake that occurred at down today.

Director of the Preparedness Center in Tartous Yaser Dayoub stated told that the injured were taken to Al-Basel hospitals in Tartous and Baniyas for necessary treatment.

Dayoub pointed out that center monitored the collapse of parts of dozens of buildings in the vicinity of Al Qadmus Castle as well as parts of the balconies in some houses in the main market in the city of Baniyas. It also monitored the collapse of 2-story building under construction in the village of Al Qalou in the countryside of Baniyas.
