Awqaf Minister: Syria and Egypt have been pillars for disseminating moderation, fighting extremist thinking
Minister of Awqaf (Islamic Endowments) Mohammad Abdul Sattar Al-Sayyed has stressed that Syria and Egypt have historically been the main pillars for disseminating moderation and fighting the terrorist extremist thinking that exploit Islam politically in complete disregard for its real meaning and principles.
“Syria has a long history in the sciences of Quran and Hadith and in confronting takfiri thinking,” Al-Sayyed said in a statement to SANA correspondent in Cairo during his visit to the Cairo International Book Fair on Saturday.
The minister met with a number of the Syrian publishers participating in the fair, hailing the role played by the Syrian writers and publishers in confronting the terrorist war that has been targeting the country and the entire region.
For his part, head of the Syrian Diplomatic Mission in Egypt Bassam Darweish talked about Syria’s participation in Cairo Book Fair, saying “the Syrian publishers have presented diverse publications that were welcomed by all”.
He added that through continuously participating in cultural activities, Syria confirms its important cultural role and introduces its sublime message to the world.
Concluding his visit, Al-Sayyed signed a number of his books that were exhibited in the fair.
