Al-Attar: intellectuals play pivotal role in confronting aggression on Syria

Damascus (ST)-Vice-President Najah al-Attar has highlighted the deep historical, cultural and human ties with the Iranian resistant people, underlining the role played by the intellectuals and writers in confronting aggression on Syria that targets the axis of steadfastness and resistance.

Meeting the delegation of Iranian intellectuals who participated in a conference on “The Intellectuals’ Role in Consolidating the Syrian People’s Steadfastness”, al-Attar hailed the Syrian and Iranian intellectuals who mobilized all their capabilities to convey the real image of what is going on in Syria within the framework of confronting the media front involved in the bloodshed of the Syrian people and targeting the Arab and Islamic culture as well as spreading moral disintegration.

Al-Attar referred to the practices of the terrorist groups backed by foreign mercenaries in destroying civil sites, including churches, mosques, universities, schools and the residential areas.

The Vice-President reviewed the great achievements made by the Syrian army in defense of the homeland, affirming that the intellectuals and writers who carry a sublime message are defending Syria because of the cultural values it embodies.

“The Arab League is part of the conspiracy hatched against Syria, but it has failed, thanks to the great unity of the Syrian people, army and leadership“, al-Attar said, reiterating that Syria has refused abandoning its relations with Iran and stop supporting resistance.

In return,  members of the Iranian delegation stressed that the conference was rich in terms of the proposals and views raised, pointing out that the Syrians’ steadfastness has added new meanings to the concept of resistance in the face of the worst of wars carried out by extremists of various inclinations.
