Qalibaf stresses the necessity of solidarity and sustainable development in the Islamic world

Algeria, (ST) – The Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf stressed the need to maintain solidarity for the sake of peace and achieving sustainable development in the Islamic world.

IRNA quoted Qalibaf as saying in a speech during the seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Algeria that the Iranian Shura Council submitted a proposal in order to achieve, activate and strengthen the status of the Islamic world.

Qalibaf indicated that achieving this initiative requires focusing on the role of Islamic parliaments in enhancing  cooperation to ensure peace, stability, sustainable development, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, paying attention to the legitimate security concerns of other countries, and non-interference in each of them.

Qalibaf  added that this initiative also requires the working to solve the basic challenges facing the Islamic world, such as poverty and the food crisis, terrorism, extremism and crisis-making by the forces of foreign intervention and the imposition of unilateral sanctions against Islamic countries, as well as the hostilities carried out by the Zionist entity against the oppressed and defenseless Palestinian people.

Qalibaf stressed that over more than seven decades, the malicious policies and actions of the fake Zionist entity continued to violate human rights and the rights of the Palestinian people. “Therefore we must not doubt that the issue of Palestine is still strongly alive  in the hearts and minds of all Muslims”, he said.
