A workshop for developing reading and summarizing skills for children from 7 to 12 years old at the Beit Center for Early Learning and Children’s Activities.
In this workshop, the aim was to remove reading from its traditional template and school duty, and to make it a mental, sensory, fun, entertaining, and attractive activity for the child. Hence, the idea of the workshop was launched: developing reading and summarizing skills.
About this workshop, the writer Duha Jawad spoke:
These skills increase the child’s self-confidence, strengthen his personality, and show his understanding and ability to express his ideas in his own way with courage and confidence, in addition to, of course, enhancing the child’s cognitive and psychological side, and increasing emotional intelligence. This workshop represents space for the child to freely express himself and to strengthen his relationship with the book, and with reading in its various forms. It is also one of the solutions to the problem of the child’s attachment to television and smart electronic devices. This workshop is a good opportunity for the child to move away from the virtual world and its consequences, and to reassure parents that their child is spending his time happily in fun and useful activities.
