TEHRAN -Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani in a meeting with UN Special Envoy on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi lashed out at certain foreign countries for their support for the terrorist groups in Syria, according to FNA.
During the meeting in Tehran on Sunday, Shamkhani criticized certain world powers’ double-standard approach towards terrorism, and underlined the necessity for the foreign countries to stop interfering in Syria, saying that they are seeking to change the scene in Syria to their own benefit and not in the interest of the Syrian nation.
He also stressed Tehran’s readiness to cooperate in the political settlement of the regional problems and continued humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people.
Brahimi, for his part, underscored Iran’s valuable role in the regional developments, especially in Syria, and urged the Islamic Republic to increase its cooperation and help the UN resolve the crisis in Syria politically and prevent the continued humanitarian tragedies in there.
