Ways to enhance cooperation in the educational field between Syria and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) were discussed on Monday during the Education Minister Darem Tabbaa’s meeting with the UNHCR representative in Syria Sivanka Dhanapala.
Tabbaa affirmed the Syrian government’s commitment to providing qualitative education and a safe school environment for all Syrian students in all governorates, including the students who have dropped out of schools, pointing out that the ministry will issue a booklet that contains procedures to be followed when Syrian refugee students return to the country to enroll at schools.
For her part, Dhanapala hailed the ministry’s efforts to support renovating damaged schools which number about 25, and its participating in carrying out the hosting program, which includes exams for students coming from areas controlled by terrorist groups and from Lebanon.
