Abbas, Bagheri stress enhancing cooperation between Syria and Iran

Syria’s Minister of Defense General Ali Mahmoud Abbas and the Iranian army’s Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri held talks on Monday in Tehran on bilateral relations and means of enhancing cooperation that serves the interest of the peoples of the two countries.

Abbas said that the strong cooperation between the two countries has been fruitful as it led to defeating terrorism and foiling enemies’ schemes.

“The victory over terrorism achieved in Syria is a common victory as the Syrian and Iranian blood was mixed on the Syrian soil”, he added.

Gen. Abbas thanked Iran for supporting Syrian in its war on terrorism, stressing the importance of continuous cooperation and coordination.

For his part, Bagheri affirmed the deep relations between Syria and Iran, asserting that “thanks to the steadfastness of the Syrian people, army and leadership, Syria has foiled the conspiracy, triumphed over terrorism and preserved its independence and national sovereignty”.

The Syrian minister arrived in Tehran this morning leading an official delegation to hold talks with Iranian officials on issues of common interest.
