China chooses Syrian researcher Rashad Alkasir to be among the 25 most distinguished foreign researchers

China has chosen the Syrian researcher Rashad Alkasir, a specialist in microbiology and immunology, to be among the 25 most distinguished foreign researchers in different specializations within the framework of China’s celebrations on Spring Festival.

Alkasir took part in the conference held at the Great Hall of the People’s in Beijing in the presence of China’s Prime Minister Li Keqiang, the ministers of foreign affairs, higher education and science and technology, as well as a number of senior Chinese officials and members of the Chinese Communist Party.

In a statement to SANA correspondent in Beijing, Dr. Alkasir said that the Chinese government asked all scientific research centers and major universities to select foreign experts who contributed over the past years to enhancing scientific research in China. He pointed out that he was selected from amongst 100 specialists in microbiology.

“I am proud of being influential in the country that hosted me for more than 15 years. The Syrians are known for their ability to make achievements and be distinguished wherever they are,” Alkasir added, expressing his continuous readiness to provide assistance or any scientific consultation that contributes to the development of scientific research in his country, Syria.

It is to be noted that Alkasir is a researcher and an assistant professor at the Higher Institute for Microbiology and Immunology Research of the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology in Beijing, which is one of the largest and most important research centers in Asia.
