The Minister of Electricity, Eng. Ghassan Al-Zamil, discussed with the UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail bin Muhammad Al-Mazrou’i, the bilateral relations between the two countries, and issues related to energy production.
During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023 exhibition, Minister Al-Zamil referred to the current difficult situation of power generation in Syria as a result of the unilateral Western coercive measures, and the lack of fossil energy, that reduced electricity generation from 10,000 megawatts before the war imposed on Syria to about 20,000 megawatts now.
For his part, the UAE minister noted the importance of brotherly relations between the two countries, and the priority his country attaches to that.
The two ministers stressed the importance of using international platforms to make Syria’s voice heard in obtaining clean energy as a human right.
