An explosive device goes off in Daraa, killing a police officer, wounding several others

Damascus, (ST) – On Wednesday, the Ministry of the Interior announced the martyrdom of a police officer and the wounding of two other policemen and three civilians after an explosive device went off in the city of Daraa.

The ministry said in a statement today, of which SANA received a copy, that the Major Faris Khalil, from the Special Tasks Unit in Damascus, was martyred as a result of the blast of an explosive device in Bosra Square in the city of Daraa.

Two policemen, Muhammad Diab and Fadi Hammadi, from the Special Tasks Unit in Daraa, and three civilians were wounded in the explosion, the ministry added.

The incident took place while the policemen were performing their national duty.

The statement indicated that the body of the martyr and the injured were taken to the National Hospital in Daraa.
